A Southwestern Utah chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association was organized in January of 2005. While there are more than 460 local chapters of FMCA nation wide and in Canada, Southwestern Utah motor home owners did not have the opportunity of a close-by group with which to affiliate and travel. The formation of the Red Rock Rovers chapter provides that opportunity. There were 26 coaches in the charter group. The Family Motor Coach Association was founded to promote motor coaching as a way of life and a fun activity for family recreation. FMCA chapters are the fun groups of the Association and provide members with the opportunity to use their coaches and enjoy the fellowship of friends with a common interest. Chapter gatherings or rallies, as they are called, are generally designed to take advantage of some specific function, attraction, or event that will be enjoyable to the majority of the members and are generally three or four days long. The local Southwestern area chapter will plan a rally or outing four or five times a year. Rallies generally are held during the week. The Chapter will also participate in the International Rallies of FMCA and the Rocky Mountain Area Rambles each year. The Family Motor Coach Association was founded in 1963 to organize social activities, exchange motor coach information, and supply numerous benefits made possible, in part, by collective purchasing. Since its founding, FMCA has issued more than 340,000 membership numbers to owners of family motor coaches. If anyone is interested in being a part of this new Southwestern Utah FMCA chapter, they can call Gary Watts at 435 652 0457 or send an email to gwatts@infowest.com.
